Цель урока: Обобщение и систематизация лексического материала по теме.

Задачи урока:

  1. Расширить по сравнению с базовым уровнем знания учащихся о традициях и обычаях, существующих в англоязычных странах; 2) активизировать учебные умения и навыки школьников.

Ход урока

  1. Начало урока. Приветствие.

Good morning, friends! I am glad to see you. Sit down please.

2.Беседа с дежурным: Who is on duty today? Who is absent today? What is the date today? What is the day of the week today?

What is the weather like? Is it frosty (sunny, snowy, slippery ) today?

Do you like such weather? Do you like more winter or summer?

Why don’t you like winter? Thank you! Sit down.

Let’s begin our lesson!

St Valentine’s Day Guy Fawkes Night. How do the British celebrate the New Year? ( слайд 6)

In Britain the New Year is not as widely celebrated as Christmas.

Some people ignore it completely and go to bed at usual time.

Others, however, do celebrate it in one way or another. The most common type of celebration is a New Year party.

7. What do you know about Christmas?

A Christian holy day held on December 25th (or in some churches on January 7th ) in honour of the birth of Christ. Mainly used in writing for example on shop signs and Christmas cards.

How do the British celebrate St Valentine’s Day?

On the 14t of February there is St. Valentine’s Day.

People send Valentine’s cards to someone they love.

Usually they don’t sign them ----you must guess who sent cards to you.

Easter ( слайд 9).

In April or at the end of March English people celebrate Easter

Day. On Easter Sunday children get chocolate eggs and rabbits.`

Christian remember the death of Christ and his return to life.

At Easter people usually exchange dyed eggs. People dye eggs and present their relatives and friends with them.

People go the church and stay for a service.

How do people celebrate Hallowe’en in Britain?

31st October is Hallowe’en. This festival celebrates the return of the souls of the dead who come back to visit places where they lived. In the evening there are lots of Hallowe’en parties.

People dress up as witches, ghosts, devils, cats or bats. Houses are decorated with pumpkins with candles inside them.

Some children follow the American custom called Trick or Treat.

What do you know about celebration Guy Fawkes Night?

November 5th when in Britain people light fireworks and burn a guy on a bonfire. This is in memory of the time when Guy Fawkes tried to destroy Parliament in London in 1605. The historical meaning of the occasion is no longer important.

At different celebrations people are involved in different activities.

What do usually do people in Britain at different celebrations? People set off firecrackers.

. People cook dinner for the whole family.

. People make fancy costumes and put them on.

. People take part in parades.

People go to the church and stay for the service. Etc.

In many countries there are interesting customs for births, marriages, the seasons or good luck.

Making New Year’s resolutions is a tradition connected the New Year.

At the New Year people often decide what they are going to do and what they are not going to do. Аудирование

Rod: I will go jogging every morning. It’ a good training for basketball. But I don’t know how long I’ll keep it.

Jane: And you, Joe?

Joe: I haven’t made any resolutions, and I’m not going to, because I know I’ll never keep them.

Jane: You have made some, haven’t you, Florence?

Florence: Mine is to stop eating too many sweets. And what about you, Jane? Have you made any?

Jane: Yes, I have, but it’s a secret!
