Theme: Me and you. Hello.

Aims: 

1) to teach children how to listen to the CD

2) to teach “hello”

3) to introduce new characters Anna, Bella, Eddie, Lee, Mrs Pop



Equipment of the lesson: CDs and CD-player, flash cards, blackboard.

Lesson Procedure:

I.                   Warming up

-to introduce yourself (Hello, My name is…., What is your name?)

-start the lesson using Hello. Encourage children to say Hello to you and to the other children.

    II. Working with the book

      - Introduce the book and give time to children to look through the book. Ask them to find their favourite pictures. Ask them if they know any English words already. Introduce four main characters. Show the picture of Anna. Then in Mother Tongue (Russian or Kazakh) ask children to find Anna in the picture. Say the name Anna. Ask them to repeat. Do the same with the vocabulary Cards of Bella, Eddie and Lee.

III. Listening

-  In mother tongue (MT) ask children to listen to the recording. Then say listen and repeat listen. Play the recording. Point to each character in the picture when his/her name is mentioned. In MT ask the children to listen and point. Then say Listen and point twice. Play the recording again. Children point to each character as his/her name is mentioned.

-Put the vocabulary cards of Bella, Eddie, Anna and Lee (in this order) on the board. In MT ask the children to look at the Vocabulary Cards.

- MT ask the children to listen and say. Then say Listen and say twice in order to remember the instructions. Play the recording again and point to the Vocabulary Card of each character when the names are mentioned. To give them confidence, children speak with recording. 

IV. Working in pairs/Pairwork

-Say Look. Show the vocabulary card of Mrs Pop. Then in mother tongue ask the children to find Mrs Pop in the picture. Say Mrs Pop. Children repeat.

-Put the Vocabulary Cards of Mrs Pop, Eddie, Anna, Lee and Bella on the board. Say Look and point to the cards. Then say listen. Point to the Vocabulary Cards of Mrs Pop and Eddie and model the dialogue Hello, Eddie. Hello, Mrs Pop. Children repeatDo the same for the dialogues between Mrs Pop and Anna, Mrs Pop and Lee and Mrs Pop and Bella.

- In MT, explain that the children take it in turns to be Mrs Pop and each of the other characters and to say Hello,…(+ name) to each other. Go around and help. You could ask some pairs to act out a dialogue in front of the class.

V. Working with the Activity Book.

- Introduce the letter –Aa-. Say in MT that the letter Aa is the first letter in the English Alphabet (ABC).  Try to write this letter Ex.1 p.4 (Activity Book)

- Ex.2 p.4 (circle a and A)- pupils try to find the capital letter A and the small one. Circle them.

VI. Working with the new vocabulary

      Cat [        ]- кошка, кот

      Hat [        ]- шляпа

     Apple [            ] – яблоко

     Hello [            ]-  привет, здравствуйте

-show the cards with these pictures. Say these words and the pupils have to repeat after you. First of all, you say-pupils repeat, then you show, pupils name the cards.

- Ex.3 p,4 –pupils have to fill the blanks with the letter Aa.


Homework: 1) to learn the new words

                     2) practice writing the letter Aa in the notebooks.



Feedback: In MT ask the children the following questions

1)    Did you like the lesson today?

2)    What did you know from the lesson?

Задачи:

  5. воспитывать уважение к культуре страны изучаемого языка.

1 ЭТАП

Знакомство с историей праздника “День Святого Валентина”.



(В полумраке разыгрывается сценка.)

Юноша:

Я в злую барышню влюблён,


В простую барышню влюблён,
И в очень строгую влюблён,
И в недотрогу я влюблён,
И в равнодушную влюблён,
И в барышню смешливую.
Я и в послушную влюблён,
Влюблён я и в строптивую...

Девушка: Ой-ой-ой.

Юноша:

Я в сотни барышень влюблён


С одной и той же силою.

Девушка: Это то, что надо, но как жаль, что вы влюблены в 100 барышень. (Уходит)

Юноша:

Нет-нет, постой!


Все сто в тебе одной.
Сто разных барышень в тебе
А ты одна в моей судьбе.

- Сейчас вы увидели встречу двух влюблённых сердец, посвящённую празднику “День Святого Валентина”.

Вот несколько страниц из истории этого праздника.

No one really knows the actual origin of Valentine's Day. Many historians, however, seem to trace it to an ancient Roman festival called Lupercalia. This was held on February 15 to honor Faunus, the god of animal life, hunting, herding, the patron of husbandry, and the guardian of the secret lore of nature. After Christianity spread, some think this pagan festival eventually became Valentine's Day.

Other experts connect Valentine's Day with two saints of the early Christian church. According to one story, St. Valentine's was a priest who would marry young couples against the orders of the Roman Emperor Claudius 11, who believed that single young men made better soldiers. This story goes back to about A.D. 200.

There also was another St. Valentine who was a good friend to children. Because he would not worship the gods decreed by the Roman emperor, he was put in prison. While he was imprisoned, the children that he had befriended missed him and brought him loving notes. Many of the notes expressed the thought that "absence makes the heart grow fonder." He was supposedly executed on February 14 in A.D. 270. Some people think this is why we exchange friendly and caring messages on this day.

Some people connect the celebrating of Valentine's Day with an old English belief that birds choose their mates on February. This, too, possible, since spring was less than a month away. The calendar used before 1582 was slightly different from the one we use now. Spring arrived on March 11 on the old calendar.

Many old-fashioned Valentine's Day customs involved ways single women could learn their future husbands might be. In England in the 1700s, women wrote men's names on scraps of paper, rolled each in a ball of clay, and dropped them into water. The first paper that surfaced supposedly had the name of the woman's true love.

The customs of sending valentine cards started in Europe in the 1700s. Commercial valentines were first made in the early 1800s. Kate Greenaway, a British artist, was one of the leading makers of valentines. Her valentines are known for her drawing of little children and the varied shades of blues and greens that she favored. Whatever the origin, Valentine's Day is celebrated in many parts of the world today and is a holiday for both young and old.

"This is the legend of how St. Valentine's Day began. When the Roman emperor Claudius 11 needed soldiers, he made a law against marrying because he left that marriage made men want to stay at home instead of fighting wars. But at that time there was a kindly priest named Valentine. He couldn't agree with the emperor's decision. When he saw that young couples were truly in love, he married them secretly'.



Выходят юноша и девушка. Они падают на колени и умоляют священника совершить обряд бракосочетания. Священник выполняет их просьбу.

СвященникMy daughter! My son! I declare you husband and wife!

Звучит марш Мендельсона. Врывается стража.

Стражник 1: Priest, you have been discovered and condemned to death!

Стражник 2: To prison! To Tower!

Следующая сцена: Священник в тюрьме. Исполняется танец привидений. Входит тюремщик с дочерью.

Священник: What a beautiful girl!

ТюремщикThis is my daughter. She is blind! She will probably never see the light, the trees ! (Рыдает).

Священник: I'll help her by working a miracle!

Через некоторое время дочь тюремщика показывает, что к ней вернулось зрение.



ДевушкаI'm so grateful to you. Even in prison you. Valentine, showed your love for everyone and restored my sight!

СвященникUnfortunately, tomorrow, on February, I am to die. But I 'm scared and I want to tell everybody on earth, "I love you. I'm your Valentine” Голос из-за кулис: Just before his death, on February 14, he sent her a farewell message signed from your Valentine'.

Эта история печальна, а мы собрались веселиться.

II. ЭТАП Quiz

We are divided into 2 teams and we are named them. "Romeo" is the name of the 1stteam. '' Juliet'' is the name of the 2nd team.



КОНКУРС I

Командам предлагаются карточки с именами известных деятелей. Команды должны из этих персон составить пары. Командам даётся 1 минута, затем по-очереди зачитывают по одной паре, за каждую получая по баллу.

Команды получают по сердечку, в котором зашифрованы слова. На выполнение задания даётся 1 минута. За правильно выполненное задание команда получает 3 балла, вторая - 1 балл.

Купидон, сын богини Венеры, который является символом нашего праздника, хочет узнать: знаете ли вы в каком месяце, отмечаются английские праздники. За правильный ответ команды получают по баллу.
