Teacher: We’ve got an unusual lesson today-a tour around London. We are going to speak about London and its most famous sights. Our lesson is divided into several parts. We’ll sing a song, revise places of interest in London and speak about the history of London. London is very different. There are parts for poor and rich people. The song ‘The streets of London” will prove it. Do you like our plan? So let’s start with the song ‘The streets of London”.

The streets of London’) Through the streets of London, change your mind, at a quarter past eleven, lasts an hour, carrier bags.

Teacher : London’s history began with the Romans. They built a town on the River Thames. The name of the town was Londinium. By the year 400, there were fifty thousand people in Londinium. Until 1749, there was only one bridge over the river: London’s bridge.

At the beginning of the 11th century England was already a big country and London was a very important city. In 1066 William the Conqueror went to England from Normandy in France. He became King of England but he was afraid of the English and built the White Tower. In 1666 there was the Great Fire of London. After it people built a new city. By 1830 there were more than one and a half million people in London.

Teacher: Well. And now we have “London Sightseeing Tour on a red double-decker bus”. (Слайд 4) I welcome you to London. Let me introduce myself. I’m your group leader. My name is... I’m glad to meet you on this double-decker bus.

London is the capital of England. The heart of London is the City. It is the oldest part of London. You can visit some interesting places in the City or near it. One of them is the Tower of London. Now we are crossing Tower Bridge. From here you can see the Tower of London. It was a fortress, a royal palace and later a prison. It is a museum now.

Teacher: Trafalgar Square is the heart of tourists’ London. This is where public gatherings and political demonstrations take place. The tall column in the centre of the square commemorates Admiral Nelson’s victory in the Battle of Trafalgar, where the British navy defeated the navy of Napoleon in 1805.

Now we are at Buckingham Palace. It is the London home of the Queen. It is a wonderful building with a monument in front of it which is the Queen Victoria Memorial.

St Paul’s Cathedral

Piccadilly Circus is a famous London landmark and meeting place. There is a bronze fountain in its centre with famous statue of Eros, the Greek god of love. Look right. We are passing Hyde Park.

On the left you can see a long grey building. Look at its towers. They are the Houses of Parliament. The large clock in one of the towers is Big Ben. Big Ben is one of London’s most famous landmarks. In fact, it is not the name of the clock on the Tower of Westminster, but it is the nickname of the bell inside. (слайд) Big Ben ( Мортада Юсеф)

Teacher of IT Алексеева Е.Н.: (Презентация )The British Museum, in London, is one of the world's greatest museums of human history and culture. Its collection is about eight million works.

1. The song (песня ‘The streets of London’) The Beathles.

Have you seen the old man in the closed down market,

Kicking up the paper with worn out shoes ?
In his eyes you see no pride, and held loosely at his side,
Yesterday's paper telling yesterday's news.

Refrain:
So how can you tell me you're lonely, and say, for you that the
sun doesn’t shine?
Let me take you by the hand and lead you
through the streets of London,
I'll show you something to make you
change your mind.

Have you seen the old girl who walks to the streets of London,
Dirt in her hair and her clothes just in rags?
She's no time for talking, she just keeps right on walking,
Carrying her home in two carrier bags

Refrain:
So how can you tell me you're lonely, and say, for you that the
sun don't shine ?
Let me take you by the hand and lead you through the streets of London,
I'll show you something to make you
change your mind.

In the all-night cafe at a quarter past eleven,
Same old man sitting there on his own Looking at the world over
the rim of him tea-cup,
Each tea lasts an hour, then he wanders home alone.

Refrain:
So how can you tell me you're lonely, and say, for you that the
sun don't shine...
